Jay Leno to follow Conan O’Brien and quit NBC?

[HMG] – In the utterly avoidable, ongoing train-wreck that is the ‘Tonight Show’ fiasco, both Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien are said to be mad at those who run NBC. And now it seems both may be leaving.

Sources close to the deposed king of late night tell Popeater Jay is ‘furious’ at how both he and Conan have been treated by the intellectual pygmies who caused this whole mess, and is even considering leaving the network to find pastures new.

“Now that Conan’s made it clear he’s leaving, Jay is considering doing the same.” says a source. “They have put Jay in a terrible position; It looks like he is the reason Conan’s without a job. Jay’s a great guy, and it’s not fair that, due to NBC’s stupidity, he looks the bad guy.”

And even if Coco, Jay and the NBC suits can work something out, there’s one other issue that could cost Jay some sleep;

“What happens when Jay does return to the 11:35 slot and his audience doesn’t immediately follow?” the source ponders. “How can he possibly trust the same network that canceled Conan after only seven months?”

A fair point. And if this story pans out and both hosts fly the coop, a rumor is already floating the next host of that prestigious desk could be Jerry Seinfeld.
