Casey Johnson’s tragic final days alone as ticking time bomb
(HMG) – Born to all the advantages of wealth, Casey Johnson’s last days were spent living in squalor, and surrounded by hangers-on, those close to her tell the NY Post. The wild child had become an evident train wreck even before adopting a baby and becoming engaged to a freak show. Casey Johnson’s parents Woody and Sale, had tried some tough love on their wayward daughter, even cutting off her money, in fear Casey would meet the same fate as her uncle Keith, who died of a drug overdose in 1975.
As we previously reported Johnson’s downward spiral began gaining speed late last year. Her former girlfriend Courtenay Semel allegedly beat her up and set her hair on fire. Johnson was also busted for grand theft for breaking into and swiping items from a friend’s home (Jasmine Lennard), and her adopted daughter was taken away from her by her concerned mother. Friends tell the Post, Johnson coped by self-medicating, popping copious amounts of prescription pain medication, as well as drugs, such as marijuana, ecstasy and cocaine. Her family persuaded her to go into rehab a few months ago, but she checked out early and refused to go back. Things got so bad that in November, Johnson tried to commit suicide, sending a text message to her Semel who called 911, saying, “I’ve taken a lot of pills, and I’m going to sleep forever,” friends told The Post.
TMZ reported yesterday that Casey had two specific incidents in the last year where she was taken to intensive care with diabetic comas. But a Post source says it had nothing to do with not taking her insulin, because she had an insulin pump that delivered her medicine automatically. How she lived and self-medicated may have ultimately contributed to her demise, but she may have been a ticking time bomb anyway, because her diabetes had deteriortated to what is called labile, which meant that the insulin was becoming less effective, and her body was developing a tolerance to it.  She was always at risk for going into a diabetic coma,” the NY Post source said. Left all by herself over the holidays, potentially suicidal, seperated from her family and living in in a garbage-filled, rented house with no electricity, water or gas, and perhaps without phone service, she died and her body laid for days to be discovered. Investigators are awaiting the results of toxicological tests before they announce the cause of death.
