Killing off Kirsten Dunst’s ‘Spider-Man’ character probably wishful thinking?

kirsten dunst - Spider Man(HMG) – One complaint many comic book fans have about the Spider-Man film franchise since it began is Kirsten Dunst playing Mary-Jane Watson.  Personally I have never really been that keen on Tobey Maguire as the lead, but anyway.  Rumor is that Mary-Jane Watson will be written and perhaps killed off in 2011′s Spider-Man 4.  Hey you can only have her barely saved from the clutches of the villain by spider man only so many times.

Oscar-nominated actress Anne Hathaway is supposedly in talks to play either Felecia Hardy, as the Black Cat or another character “Vultress”, and will take over as Peter Parker’s new love interest for ‘Spider-Man 5′ and 6, which are being written now,” whispers a source to Star Magazine.

“The plan is for her character to be written out, probably by dying.  “Anne’s in Los Angeles doing a lot of meetings on the movie, because filming is right around the corner,” the source adds.

I like the idea of this but until the production stoppage for Spider-Man 4 is over, due to creative differences between Sony Pictures and the writers and director, Sam Raimi regarding who the main villain should be, this all seems pretty speculative.
