Britney Spears fails to escape Daddy’s control

[HMG] – In news that should surprise almost no-one, Britney Spears position under her father’s thumb has been extended — again.

At a hearing in a Los Angeles courtroom yesterday, Commissioner Reva Goetz gave the order for Jamie Spears, Brit’s daddy, to maintain his position as ‘Conservator’ of his daughter’s entire life — for which Britney pays him $16,000 a month.

Attorney Andrew Wallet [what an apt name!] who is Jamie’s legal assistant and Brit’s co-conservator, also received $174,569 for legal work done between July and November.

Almost $200k for less than six months of shuffling some papers…How many of you can earn that?

And the bills don’t end there: Daddy Spears also got $1,200-a-month for office space, his own Attorney’s got $183,900 and  another law firm snagged a cool $50,000.

Samuel Ingham, the Court-appointed attorney for Britney, told the hearing that, “She accepts the accounting as filed and had no objection to it.”

So Daddy Spears has two separate attorneys on call…but his own daughter has to get one on loan from the Court…Odd??

One upside from all this is the bond on Jamie’s conservatorship was increased from $1-million to $25-million. This is a kind of ‘Conservator insurance’ — If anyone ran off with her money, Brit would be covered and get most of it back.

But being in her father’s unbounded control to this depth appears to be having some unwelcome effects;

“She is so out of it, she just doesn’t care anymore,” a source told IOL. “She just does what she’s told and is totally in her world. She’ll even call people at all hours of night and act like it’s the middle of the day.”

Daddy Spears’ role as Conservator was granted by the same court after his daughter’s ‘breakdown’ in 2008. It’s not clear how much longer Brit is expected to endure it, but Lawyers involved in the case say it could be 6-12 months.

A new court hearing is now scheduled for January 14th. Brit could use it to challenge her Dad’s role again…but something tells me that won’t be allowed…
