American Idol star, Carrie Underwood is engaged

[HMG] – Those who enjoy country music can’t have missed Carrie Underwood’s growing romantic connections with NHL star, Mike Fisher of the Ottowa Senators.

Well, it seems that their link is now real;

The blogosphere had been buzzing over a possible hook-up since Carrie, 26, who works mostly in Nashville, was seen around Ottawa throughout the weekend.

A loose-lipped friend then made the buzz even louder last night when he used his Twitter page to congratulate the couple on an upcoming marriage they had not yet announced.

With their cover now blown, Fisher used a pre-game press conference this morning to make it official;

“It’s true,” said Mike, 29. “We’re both obviously excited and very happy.”

The newly-formed couple have been dating just over a year and kept their link pretty secret – until now. And that’s no easy task: Since winning ‘Idol’ in 2005, Carrie’s now quite a star, and Mike is regarded as one of the NHL’s most eligible bachelors.

“I think it’s great,” team-mate Chris Neil told the Ottawa Sun. “There’s going to be a lot of broken hearts among all the girls who are in love with Mikey,” he said.

Responding to reporter’s insistent questions, Fisher confirmed that Carrie had joined him at the Senators’ game against the ‘Minnesota Wild’ team in Ontario, Saturday. He then proposed late Sunday and Carrie gladly agreed.

She’ll be there again tonight as Mike and his team face our own Boston Bruins. There’s no ring yet, so will this be the show when the bling will arrive? We’ll bring you the word if it does…
