Tara Reid goes topless for Playboy to show she’s hot again

playboy_tara-reid[HMG] – With her close friends, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan both in careers that are brain-dead at best, it was up to Tara Reid to score one for the team — So she’s decided to get topless for Playboy.

The 34-year old actress from Wyckoff, New Jersey got her break at age nine in a game show, and has been chasing the dream ever since. Her career is so close to a flat-line, a small part in Scrubs and a minor engagement on ‘Days of our Lives’ can be seen as the highlights, and some bad plastic surgery did not really help.

Playboy had come calling before, but Tara was worried the scars from botched breast implant and liposuction procedures would make her look like a freak, so she turned them down. But now she’s decided to be brave and go bare;

“I’d been invited to pose in the past but I didn’t really think it was the right time. Now I feel I’m at the best place in my life – mentally, physically and spiritually,” she told New York’s WPIX.

Asked about the surgery, Tara explained she had corrective procedures about five years ago to hide all the damage, and now wanted to show her five or six fans she looks normal again.

“It wasn’t a good surgery,” she admits in an admirable display of robust understatement. “But I got it fixed, and now I’m okay. And I want people to know that,” she explained. “Besides, so many unbelievable stars have done it through the years, so I figured, ‘Why not?’ “

Well, here’s a short list — Playboy’s sales are imploding, they’ve shut two major offices and cut costs to the bone. Pose for them now and you prove you’re all they can even hope to afford. Plus the Tiger Woods saga has generated so many fame-seeking wannabes, all desperate to score more easy money and drag out their ‘fame,’ you’ll get lost in the crush and judged as a part of that detestable crowd.

Not a good plan when your career’s already close to extinct.

In brighter news, Tara has also joined Jon Gosselin’s favorite designer, Ed Hardy to launch her own clothes line called ‘Mantra.’ It sells in up-market department stores, but sales are reportedly ‘disappointing’ and ‘flat.’

Looks like a Playboy sequel may soon be required?…
