(HMG) – Last night Morgan Freeman was taking his bows on the read carpet as he is busy promoting his upcoming film “‘Invictus’ (in theaters Dec. 11), which tells the true story of the former South African president’s life during the 1995 rugby World Cup and how he used the sport to bring people together after apartheid.  Freeman, 72, plays the great Mandela, while Damon, 39, is rugby team captain Francois Pienaar and Clint Eastwood is the director.

But while we’re sure his acting in the role of Mandela, is once again superb, the buzz right now is about his left hand, which was badly injured in a car accident last year. It seems his hand is still limp, and there have even been some recent rumors Morgan has an artificial hand, which is likely not true.

As you recall Freeman was in his Nissan Maxima near Ruleville, Mississippi on August 3, 2008 when the car left the highway flipping several times.  His passenger in the car Demaris Meyer, was later to be rescued from the car using the jaws of life. Meanwhile  Morgan was airlifted to a hospital in Memphis, with a broken shoulder, arm and elbow, and he also suffered severe nerve injury in his left hand. Later he had to undergo a major surgery for this nerve damage. Morgan has admitted that his left hand is still paralyzed from the accident, but the amputation rumors you may have heard seem to be an exaggeration.
