ABC Switches Chris Brown “Good Morning America†Performance For 20/20 Interview
(HMG) — Chris Brown’s performance on Good Morning America next week has been canceled, but instead, Brown has agreed to “come clean” with the events leading up to his February attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna in a primetime interview with Robin Roberts on ABC’s “20/20″, the network has announced. ABC recently came under fire for canceling Adam Lambert’s appearance last minute due to the singer’s sexually-charged performance at 2009 American Music Awards.
The supposed in-depth interview with Brown, taped last weekend, comes after Rihanna already sat down with Diane Sawyer. In case your wondering about the timing, perhaps the real motive is that Brown’s new album “Graffiti” comes out three days before the interview airs. The singer, who plead guilty in June to assaulting his then girlfriend and is currently serving probation for the crime, will appear on the newsmagazine on Dec. 11, with clips airing on GMA in the days before.
Brown has already done interviews with Larry King and Wendy Williams, but was guarded in giving details on what happened that fateful night.
