Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal call it quits

(HMG) – Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal have split up, after two years as a couple.  The usually highly reliable People Magazine was the first to report the split, citing  a “source close to the actress” as saying that Witherspoon, 33, and Gyllenhaal, 28, are done. No other details so far, but diverging work schedules was one of the big challenges, that perhaps drove them apart.  I gotta say to that since the source was supposedly a friend of Reese, she probably did the dumping from past experince.

Jake and Reese co-starred in the 2007 movie “Rendition” and soon were the subject of rumors that they were together off-screen as well. With weekends often spent with Witherspoon’s two children at her home in Ojai, Calif., a swirl of speculation of an impending engagement have circulated for the past year.  But the two have not been seen together much of late and it appears their run together might be over.

UPDATE: Reese’s spokesperson is saying People’s Magazines source is wrong. Her rep tells rival magazine  UsWeekly, “It’s not true. They have not split.”
