Wronged Gov. wife Jenny Sanford: creating a new life

(HMG) – Jenny Sanford, wife of the famously cheating Governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford is not sitting at home crying tears over her husband’s very public extramarital affair with an Argentine woman, he told the world was his “soul mate.” And Jenny Sanford is definitely not standing by her man, like many political wives before her. Jenny Sanford is moving on and she is creating a new life for herself

She separated from her cheating husband, known for his hikes along the Appalachian Trail, soon after he returned home from a secret trip to Buenos Aires to be in the arms of his mistress. Jenny Sanford packed up her belongings and vacated the governor’s mansion with her four sons.

The high-speed Jenny Sanford train is about to leave the station for the national stage and there doesn’t seem to be a seat reserved for her husband. And these days, moving on requires a book deal and a series of high-profile media interviews, which Mrs. Sanford has resourcefully secured for herself.

Soon after Gov. Sanford confessed to his affair, she applied for a trademark of her own name in order to sell clothing, mugs and other items. Her memoir, entitled “Staying True,” is due out in April. The book will be published by Ballantine Books and is described, as an “inspirational memoir” that will grapple with the universal issue of maintaining integrity and a sense of self during life’s difficult times.”

Early next month, is the start of a carefully orchestrated media blitz, beginning with an appearance on the ABC Barbara Walters’ special as one of the “10 Most Fascinating People of 2009.”

There is also talk in South Carolina that Jenny Sanford may have political ambitions of her own, and may run for office. She has always been viewed, as the one having the brains and ambition in her marriage. She organized Mark’s political campaigns and even took on the role of chief of staff during his first term as governor.

While Jenny Sanford’s star seems to be rising, her husband Mark’s is falling. His popularity in his home state is the lowest it has ever been and he is facing 37 ethics charges, which may result in his impeachment from office.

Jenny Sanford is no one’s fool. And she is transforming the role of a political wife publicly humiliated by the infidelity of a high-profile politician. ‘Don’t Cry for Me Argentina’ indeed.
