Reality TV Couple Crashes Obama’s 1st State Dinner

A couple of D-Listers have taken fame whoring to another level. Tareq and Michaele Salahi, aiming to be part of the cast of a reality show called “The Real Housewives of DC,” crashed Tuesday’s state dinner at the White House. Spencer and Heidi would be proud of this free publicity stunt. The Salahis, who were described by the Washington Post as “polo-playing socialites,”
managed to slip into Tuesday night’s state dinner at the White House even though they were not on the guest list, agency spokesman Ed Donovan said.
Michaele a former Redskins cheerleader, used her Facebook page to post pictures of the couple posing with Vice President Joe Biden and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel indicate that the couple had up-close access to some of Washington’s elite, but they were carefully screened for weapons like all guests supposedly minimizing the danger to the president. However such a breech of security at such an elite event is unconscionable. A Secret Service checkpoint “did not follow proper procedures” to determine if the two were on the guest list for the dinner, said Edwin M. Donovan, a Secret Service special agent, in a statement. The Salahi’s might not get away with this stunt unscathed, as lying to the Secret Service could bring a felony charge.
Update: The cable network Bravo confirmed in a statement to The New York Times on Thursday, its cameras were following — and filming Michaele and Tarek Salahi, but were under the impression they had been invited to the White House event.
