Man Pays Small Fortune For The Famous Michael Jackson Glove

Michael-Jackson-White-Glove-Auctioned(HMG) – Michael Jackson may be dead and gone, but his popularity is still at a frenzy. The latest showing of fan obsession is the sale of several of his clothing items, worn for his legendary 1983 Moonwalk.

Among the items sold were the rhinestone studded glove, bought by a Hong Kong resident on behalf of the Ponte 16 Resort Hotel in Macau for $350,000. The hotel will end up paying $420,000 with the 20% gavel price, taxes, and fees.

His red ‘Bad’ jacket was sold for $225,000, and his fedora, worn with his glove for the Moonwalk, for $22,000.

Is anyone else a little confused by the change of heart here? I am not saying that Jackson wasn’t a legend, obviously he is. But he has been mocked in the media, and demonized, for years.

I understand the need for respecting the dead, but the sudden shift into hero worship seems a little hyocritical and extreme. It seems to be the place of the media to do this, at this point (anyone remember Anna Nicole Smith?).

In any case, congrats to the high bidders of the Michael Jackson collection. You have certainly bought some infamous pieces of clothes.
