Aaron Carter responds to claims he owes over $1 Million in taxes

Recently eliminated Dancing With The Stars contestant, Aaron Carter was teased a bit for showing his emotions on the show, but it’s Uncle Sam who’s really given him something to cry about. Dancing With the Stars, known for it’s ‘injury bug’ curse, might become the ‘tax evasion’ curse show after Hélio Castroneves, and now Aaron Carter. According to court documents, Carter owes more than $965,000 from 2003 alone, and an additional $45,350.11 is also owed from income earned in 2006. In a statement, Carter’s manager Johnny Wright tells Entertainment Tonight: “It is unfortunate that while Aaron was a minor, his finances were grossly mismanaged by his previous team which has lead to the current situation of which he was unaware of until today. Aaron is working with a new team to take appropriate actions towards speedy resolution of the matter and looks forward to putting this behind him and moving forward with the next stage of his music career.”
It sounds to me like they are not refuting the charges but believe Aaron is not necessarily culpable. I think in such a situation he might be able to sue his former management, but in the mean time he’s probably going to have to pay the tax man to avoid jail.
