British Actor Edward Woodward has Died

Sorry to hear Edward Albert Arthur Woodward, the English actor and singer has died at age 79. The actor had suffered several illnesses, including pneumonia. His agent, Janet Glass, said in a statement, Woodward died in hospital earlier today, praising his “brave spirit and wonderful humor.”
Woodward’s career spanned almost seven decades, originally starting as a Shakespearean stage actor. He was probably best known for his roles (chronologically) in the 1960s-1970s television spy series Callan, the 1973 film The Wicker Man, the 1980 Australian biographical film drama Breaker Morant and his lead role in the 1980s American television series The Equalizer. His portrayal of former secret agent Robert McCall, in “The Equalizer,” won him a Golden Globe Best Actor Award in 1987. Woodward is survived by four children and his second wife, actress Michele Dotrice.
