In proof that his farewell was done in a style that befitted his stature, the LA Times is reporting that Michael Jackson’s lavish farewell last September cost over $1-million.

The elegant Forest Lawn crypt in which he’ll now spend eternity, surrounded by some of Hollywood’s most enduring elite ran to $590,000, and another $35,000 was spent on his clothes, so new court documents prove.

“It was Michael Jackson,” Michael’s long-time attorney, Howard Weitzman told the press. “He was bigger than life when he was alive.”

The guest list sparkled with stars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Macaulay Culkin, Quincy Jones and numerous others, and just the invites for these folks cost $12,000; Security and transport was $30,000 more, plus $16,000 for flowers and another $15,000 for the stylist who made it all work.

And even after the service the costs didn’t stop — A Pasadena restaurant billed Jacko’s folks $21,455 for their “funeral repast.”

The court papers, which were unsealed on Tuesday, also reveal that Momma Jackson’s agreed to let two of Michael’s longtime business partners, attorney John Branca and music exec John McClain, become the permanent executors of Michael’s estate.

The late singer’s enormous estate benefits both his family and charities, but leaves his father — whom Jackson accused of abuse — with no proceeds at all. Predictably, Joe Jackson’s lawyers were also in court, in a last-ditch attempt to get their client some cash.

Daddy Jackson claims his ex-wife made ‘a backroom deal’ to exclude him from the wealth, “She has reneged on her obligation to her family,” his legal-eagle, Brian Oxman claimed. But the executors’ lawyers shot that down in flames, calling Joe’s whiny complaints, “outrageously spurious.”

He’s due back in court in December to seek a monthly allowance, which he claims Michael paid him for years – but his chances are slim as Michael made sure his dad has no control, “Joe Jackson ultimately takes none of this estate and that was a decision his son made,” Superior Court Judge, Mitchell Beckloff explained to the court.

Expect some big fireworks when Joe gets turned down. And when the rockets start bursting, you’ll read it right here.
