Astro-nut Allowed To Get Off Light With Plea Deal
Who here remembers Lisa Nowak? She is the ex-astronaut who put on adult diapers and drove to attack the love interest of a guy she wanted to jump.
She apparently wore a wig, a trench coat, and assaulted Colleen Shipman in a parking lot. Unable to drag her into her car, she sprayed her with pepper spray.
The whole thing was over Bill Oefelein, a former space shuttle pilot who had recently begun dating Shipman, and who was obviously put off from Nowak’s giant ball of crazy.
But it gets weirder. If you recall, when police arrested her she had a knife, rubber tubing, a BB gun, and a bunch of large trash bags. Yikes.
Well, she may have been planning on murdering the lover of a man who didn’t want her, but she isn’t going to be serving time like that.
In a plea deal she took today, the psycho will be serving a year of probation, after pleading guilty to felony burglary of a car and misdemeanor battery.
Shipman, who now lives with Oefelein in Alaska, says this isn’t nearly enough.
“Please don’t be fooled. I was fooled. Lisa Nowak is a very good actress. She turned on her charm and spun a pitiful story.
“Almost three years later, I’m still reeling from her vicious attack. I know in my heart when Lisa Nowak attacked me, she was going to kill me. I believe I escaped a horrible death that night.”
