Eva Mendes stirs scandal in Calvin Klein ad

In another reprehensible publicity stunt, Calvin Klein has now hung a giant, sweat-enhanced Eva Mendes in New York’s SoHo district, and the media are following along in a neatly scandalized line.
The ad, which covers an entire block on Houston Street, shows a sweaty, lingerie-clad Eva Mendes resting on a floor, absent-mindedly pulling at the shorts of an equally sweaty male companion who’s reclining beneath her.
“It looks great. And it’s sexier then the others,” Pepito Patamine, a Queens resident told NBC. “If they want to sell panties, it’s perfect,” he said.
But other residents of the artistic haven whose cast-iron warehouses and cobblestone streets have enlivened lower Manhattan since the late 1850’s seem less than impressed, “Some of us don’t want to expose our kids to things like this,” Carl Wilson, an MTA worker from Queens told the reporters, “It’s borderline porn.”
Such self-invoked scandal is hardly news for the designer-clothes line – Last year, they pulled a TV ad which showed Eva indulging in a ‘costume malfunction,’ while back in June another print ad was canceled after a Christian advocacy group got their unbranded boxers in a well-managed bunch over the mildly sexual theme.
There’s no word from Calvin on the ’scandal’ they’ve caused, but you can bet this sad ploy, like the others will soon run its course. We’ll keep you advised.
