Mamma Mia! May Be Back For Prequel

I can’t pretend I am a fan of ‘Mamma Mia!’ I have never been a huge fan of musicals in general, but I am especially not into the whole ABBA thing.
But, if you love yourself some campy fun, and singing Swedes gets your heart pounding, there is some good news for you just around the corner.
Despite the fact that Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus said there would be no second part to the hit Broadway show, Judy Craymer, who owns the rights to the film adaption, has said that a prequel might be in the works.
Apparently, she is in the process of convincing the two men, who own the rights to the ABBA songs, that making a little something that shows life ahead of the story, would be a great idea.
“I am sure that I could persuade Benny and Björn to get involved again. I would like to do Mamma Mia! 2, but it would have to use Abba songs, otherwise it would be a different thing entirely,” she said in a recent interview.
“At the rate things move, though, we’ll have to have a totally new cast as everyone will be just too old.”
So, if you loved the Meryl, Pierce, Colin, and Julie version, you will be disappointed. But if it the music you love, there should be plenty of campy fun for everyone.
