Johnny Depp plays Tourist with Angelina Jolie

If you thought your next Johnny Depp fix would be a new sea-roaming romp, you’re in for a treat — The iconic actor is now set to co-star with Angelina Jolie in a taught new crime-thriller that should bow next year;

With no less than 14 films in development, all starring him, the 46-year old Kentucky-born actor has just signed to appear with the luscious Angelina in “The Tourist,” in which he plays an innocent traveler who is lured into danger by an Interpol agent (Angie,) who needs to catch an ex-lover as he’s now turned to crime.

Behind the scenes, this intriguing movie has been a chess game on crack — The production got started with Tom Cruise in Depp’s role, and Charlize Theron as the Agent. Then Sam Worthington got Tom’s job when Tom left for Fox; With Tom gone, the Director and Sam went bye-bye and walked out as well. A new director was picked and he brought in Angie…so Charlize dropped out. But a lead male was still needed so the Producers called Depp.

If you can follow all that…would somebody please explain it to me??

Variety reports that the movie is now in serious re-writes and due to start filming in mid-February. We’ll let you know if that ever gets done…
