Penny Marshall brain tumor report refuted

The National Enquirer has reported that actress and director Penny Marshall recently discovered tumors on her liver and brain, and quietly went in for surgery at a New York hospital last week.  The Enquirer has a tendency to exaggerate or just be off on some stories but I take their reports regarding gravely ill celebrities seriously, as they broke the news on Patrick Swayze’s cancer and many others.  According to the Enquirer, the 66-year-old Marshall received the shocking news after she fell ill after a cross-country flight from Los Angeles to New York, and secretly underwent brain surgery at a New York hospital on Oct. 30, say sources close to the star’s family.  ET however claims that the beloved Laverne & Shirley star is doing “fine” after spending a short time in a New York hospital.

“Penny was in the hospital because she wasn’t feeling well and she was being checked out for the flu,” a family friend confirms. “She was released from the hospital and we can confirm that everything is fine. Penny is expected to attend the Yankee game tonight in New York.”
