Owen Wilson signs-on to voice Marmaduke
Reviving a career that has been largely in neutral since his ‘Cars’ outing in 2006, Owen Wilson has now signed up to play Marmaduke.
Keen to cash in on the box-office bounty of ‘Marley and Me,’ [in which Owen also appeared,] Fox Pictures is now in full-scale production with the new project, which blends live actors and animation to tell the drama-filled tale of the roguish Great Dane from the long-running comic strip.
For those who don’t read newspapers, this is the story of the Winslow family, who move from Kansas to California with their dog Marmaduke, a lovable mutt who causes untold disaster wherever he goes.
The center of trouble since his comic-strip debut in 1954, this outing sees Marmaduke get involved in a turf war, find the lady-dog of his dreams and endure a brief dip in respect from his fur-coated peers.
The Hollywood Reporter says Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy will play some of the humans, while Fergie, George Lopez, Steve Coogan and Damon and Marlon Wayans will provide vocal sounds for the ‘toons.
The movie should open on June 4th of next year…
