Rihanna to tell of Chris Brown assaulting her with Diane Sawyer

This story really kind of bugs me. Rihanna is going to give an interview hyped as her first spoken words publicly on the Chris Brown’s assault. This falls in the category of let sleeping dogs lie and the past is the past but talking or not talking about this is of course her prerogative. It’s the timing that kind of is disturbing. The interview itself is high profile stuff as Rihanna goes one-on-one with Diane Sawyer, which will air this week, Thursday and Friday on “Good Morning America” and Friday evening on the news magazine “20/20.” It’s probably no coincidence that Rihanna’s ABC interview coincides with the debut of her new single, “Russian Roulette,” from her upcoming album, “Rated R.” It’s her first CD since 2007’s multiplatinum “Good Girl Gone Bad.” There has been plenty of opportunities for Rihanna to speak out. The assault by Brown, her boyfriend at the time occurred in February and he was sentenced in August. So why now? Am I being to harsh?
