Dannii Minogue uncovers past Playboy strip

Minor celebrities can do some odd things to gain extra cash and attention, and Kylie Minouge’s sister, Danii is clearly one of that fold.

The 38-year old aspiring actress was married to Nip/Tuck actor Julian McMahon for less than two years until 1995, after which she got so deep in debt she stripped off for Playboy to clear up the mess.

“My parents didn’t want me to do it,” she told the UK’s Daily Telegraph. “My dad was saying, ‘Doing this is forever – you can never, ever change it.” the singer recalls.

But Dannii — youngest sister of Kylie — owed $300,000 and was too proud to ask her singer star sister to lend her the cash, so off came the undies, “Kylie knew why I was doing it. I could have asked her for the money, but it wasn’t my nature. I never wanted to admit the trouble I was in.”

The photos appeared in the Australian edition of Playboy in October 1995. It sold out in four days and went into reprint, but Dannii won’t say how much she got paid.

“It had to be a lot to look at my parents’ faces and see the anguish in my dad’s eyes,” she explains. “I don’t regret it, but I feel relieved that people know why I did it.”

In an interview to be broadcast on UK TV next weekend Danii also recalls the upset of learning her big sister had breast cancer, and how she can’t wait for the day Kylie is declared cancer-free, “The big one is the 5-year all-clear and we’re not there yet. She’s been so strong. It’s not going to come back, that’s just not going to happen.” she told Piers Morgan.

During the interview Dannii’s new boyfriend, Kris appeared on a video feed to tell her he wanted them both to have kids. And Dannii’s reply? “If you can go through the nine months and have the babies then, yes, I’m in!”
