Fabled guitarist, Eric Clapton has been forced to withdraw from the ‘Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’ concert in New York on Friday to have gallstones removed.
“Eric will spend time recovering at home in the UK and is very sorry to disappoint the fans and the Hall of Fame,” his publicist told Britain’s Daily Telegraph paper.
The 64-year old musician was due to take his rightful place among other legends of rock including Aretha Franklin and U2 to help celebrate of the Hall of Fame’s ‘25th Anniversary’ at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Friday. He’ll now need roughly two weeks to recover, but the rest of his tour is so far unaffected.
News of Eric’s canceled appearance comes just hours after Bruce Springsteen also canceled a show in Kansas City, Missouri that was slated for Thursday, due to a death in the family.
ABC affiliate, KMBC is reporting that Lenny Sullivan, who was Bruce’s cousin and the assistant road manager of the E-Street Band for ten years was found dead in his hotel room, aged 36. Police say the death is not seen as suspicious.
Neither concert officials nor Springsteen’s reps have so far made any comment. Stay tuned for any new facts…
