Hawaii Five-O prepped for CBS reboot
Clearly inspired by all the recycled movies, the CBS suits have decided to start recycling cop shows as well.
The first — and hopefully only — example of this intellectual anorexia is outlined in the Hollywood Reporter‘s brief account that CBS execs have just green-lit an updated remake of 1968′s double-Emmy award-winning classic, ‘Hawaii Five-O.’
The original series, which also ran on CBS from 1968 to 1980, concerned the daily adventures of an elite Hawaiian police force, led by the suave and iconic Jack Lord. It riveted the nation, won five awards and made “Book ‘em, Dano!” a national catchphrase.
Details on the remake are hard to acquire, but it’s due to be written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who wrote the last Star Trek movie, Mission Impossible III, the ABC drama ‘Alias’ and both ‘Transformers’ flicks…which sounds like bad news.
There’s no firm date yet for the premiere as yet, but for those who remember the sequel black armbands are advised.
