Rose McGowan and Robert Rodriguez have split

We wrote about them being a hot item so recently, the ink’s not yet dry — but Rose McGowan and Robert Rodriguez are already toast!

Rose, 36, who recently wrapped shooting on Rob’s upcoming movie, ‘Machete’  in Texas has canceled their hook-up for reasons unknown.

The pair got engaged in October of 2007, after meeting on the set of Rob’s contribution to Quentin Tarantino’s 2006 movie, Grindhouse, in which Rosie stars as a stripper with a machine-gun in one leg.

It could be argued that the cause of this split was intense competition — ‘Machete’ also co-stars Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Alba. But Radar says Rosie is now scheduled to star in the upcoming comic-book adaptation, ‘Red Sonja,’ which Rob is booked to produce — So maybe a rematch is still on the cards?

One person who should love this news is Rob’s former wife — film producer, Elizabeth Avellán. The two were married for  sixteen peaceful years when Rob bumped into Rose, and rumors soon spread that their encounter inspired the divorce.

But Rob later released a statement denying that was the case…so maybe not.
