Patrick Swayze returns in new audio book

For his legion of fans it’s still hard to believe he is gone, but in one way at least Patrick Swayze is still able to tell his own tale.

The actor, who died of Pancreatic Cancer two weeks ago, is now back in audio, as his autobiography, ‘Time of My Life,’ is released on CD by Simon & Schuster today.

Written at his New Mexico home in June of this year, the original memoir, of which the new audio book is a verbatim copy, shows the 57-year old Texas-born actor taking charge of his undeserved fate.

Patrick bravely relates how being told in January of 2008 that his life expectancy was a matter of weeks drove him close to despair, “A lot of things go through your head when you get a death sentence, starting with: ‘Why me?’ ” he explains in People’s review.

With no idea what he’d done to incur such a fate, Swayze decided to fight back — and hard; “I was not ready to go, so I said to my doctors, ‘Show me where the enemy is and I’ll fight them.’ “

What followed, he says, was “the most challenging, eye-opening battle I’ve ever had.”

Apart from some truly dark days with the cancer, Patrick also remembers life’s better times…Such as that hot scene in ‘Ghost,’ “We really made up the scene as we went along,” he says. “It was pretty sexy playing in all that clay; All we had to do was go with it…Demi was much warmer than in the other scenes we’d been in together.”

True to his roots, Patrick remained a fighter right up to the end; Just two months before losing his battle he was still looking for new roles he could play; “Whenever someone asks me what my legacy is, I say the same thing,” he recalls. “I’m not finished yet.”

Patrick slipped from this world on September 14th. His wife, of 34-years, Lisa Niemi, who was first smitten by Patrick when she was only 15, has so far made no statement regarding her loss.
