Jon and Kate Gosselin to quit sharing show
In news you’d have needed to live in a cave not to have already seen coming, TLC has announced that Jon and Kate Gosselin will no longer be co-stars on their still-sinking show.
The cable channel announced this morning that from November 2nd Jon would no longer appear on the show, and the show itself would acquire a new, shortened name — ‘Kate Plus 8.’
“Given Jon’s recent antics, there was no way the show could continue to portray him as a doting Dad,” an insider told People. “Not while all this other crap was going on.”
From its premiere on April 16th of 2007, the kid-centric show scored quite decent ratings, but these really improved once the marriage went bad. The season five premiere in which Jon and Kate announced their divorce pulled 9.8-million viewers — making it the highest rated show on TV that night.
Since then the ratings have quite simply imploded: After six-weeks of re-runs only 4.2-million watched on August 7. And way less than 2-million tuned in last week.
But Kate, it would seem, could hardly care less; Having just completed a guest spot on ‘The View,’ while Elizabeth Hasselbeck was on maternity leave, the 34-year old multiple-mom also taped a chat-show pilot in Manhattan this weekend in which she schmoozed with ‘Food Network’ fixture, Paula Deen.
If it makes it to air, the show – which is planned to be all about moms – will also co-star stand-up comedian, Judy Gold.
No news on a debut or channel as yet, but if this guaranteed train-wreck even makes it that far we’ll let you know.
