Christina Aguilera claims child abuse
In what seems to be a day of sick revelations, singer Christina Aguilera has gone public with claims of parental abuse.
In a new E! Documentary., the 28-year old performer explains how her father abused both her and her mother in a stormy family bond that eventually caused a divorce. In one incident, a four-year old Christina was playing a game while her father was taking as nap. But the noise woke him up and he allegedly beat her.
The Sun reports that this apparent assault was the last straw for her mother, and she, Christina and her young sister, Rachel, left the house and the marriage and never went back.
But life to that point has left some deep scars, “I witnessed a lot of pushing and shoving and fighting,” Christina recalls on the show. “Growing up, I never felt safe.”
To escape the domestic disaster that was most of her childhood, Christina found freedom in music, “I turned to singing as an outlet. The pain at home is where my love for music started.”
And it worked out pretty well — Since her self-titled debut CD in August 1999, Christina has sold 22-million records.
Chrissy’s parents divorced in 1989, and her father admits he did wrong, but the way Chris and her mother described; “My relationship with her mother was tense and I wasn’t perfect.” Fausto admits “I never abused them in any way, and they know that. But I respect Shelly and Christina’s option to remember things differently.”
