Kate Gosselin bows new ‘do on The View

With her marriage imploding and eight kids to support, Kate Gosselin has now chosen the perfect solution: A new ‘do!

The multiple-mommy made her second appearance as a host of ‘The View’ early today, sporting a welcome makeover from the ghastly inverted mullet she’s seemed so proud of for years.

“Isn’t it cute?” she asked her coven of co-hosts. “The girls back there did it,” said Kate, pointing backstage to the hard-working stylists whose talent, commitment and intestinal nerve had combined to make her seem almost attractive.

But Us tells us the debate on her hairdo soon progressed to her marriage, and Kate, 34, told the girls she’d now explained to her children that they will not be seeing her ring any more. When the brood all asked why, she had said, “Mommy and Daddy won’t be married much longer.’”

Her octagonal offspring’s next inquisition was apparently whether their Mommy would marry again.”‘Nooo!!” Kate said she had told them. “‘If ever I do, it won’t be for a long, long time from now.’”

Barbara Walters – who will turn 80 on September 25 – also asked Kate if the recent comments made by estranged husband, Jon had ever hurt. “Of course, it bothers me,” Kate agreed. And will she fight back, Babs inquired?. “No.” said Kate, “I am a high road taker. I need to do this for my kids.”

And marking that road is a large, well-lit sign. It reads ‘Martyrdom: 3.5 Miles.’
