Susan Boyle LA arrival causes near riot

Enjoying a rise to fame that would make ‘meteoric’ look like under-achievement, British singing star Susan Boyle arrived in LA yesterday and inspired a reception that could outstrip The Beatles.

A crowd of more than 2,000 good-natured fans were on hand to greet Susan as she began her what is not only her first trip to the US, but the first time she has ever set foot outside Europe. The 48-year old Scot was visibly moved by the reception, asking, “Oh my word. Is this for me?”

A police escort was waiting to whisk Susan to her 5-star hotel — but it took her almost an hour just get to the car. “I’m really nervous and quite overwhelmed by the reaction.” the Daily Mirror records her as saying. “It’s like nothing I’ve ever come across. It’s so flattering and I am really excited about being here. Thank you so much.”

Part of the promotional tour for her upcoming album, Susan’s trip is due to include an appearance on ‘America’s Got Talent’ on Wednesday, where she’ll sing her new cover of the Rolling Stones’ 1971 hit, ‘Wild Horses’ — a preview of which you’ll find here.

Wearing a smart white blouse and maroon two-piece, topped with maroon, pure-silk scarf the unmarried singer appeared rested and fit after her nine-hour, first class flight, shared by a positive army of assistants and stylists  assigned by her agents to help her cope with the trip. And the results left her fans in a frenzy; “It was really sweet.” said one admirer. “Susan always has time for her fans and she said it was a pleasure to meet them.”

But not all of her fans were there on the tarmac — Since entrancing the world with her voice in mid-April Susan’s agents have been swamped with requests from Hollywood names, almost begging to meet her and thus boost their fame. But Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, who were big fans on Twitter are now planning to meet her backstage at the show.
