Kanye West tantrum ruins Taylor Swift’s win

After a singing career of only two years, Taylor Swift collected the award for best video, which many thought was her due on Saturday night. Then Kanye West decided it was time for a tantrum.
The 5′11′ Pennsylvania native was announced as the winner, and began a charmingly ad-libbed acceptance of her unplanned reward, “I always dreamed about winning this someday,” she said. “But I never thought it would happen. I sing country music….”
…And that was as far as she got.
At this point, the mic was ripped from her hand by a disrespectful, arrogant ingrate who needed attention, “Taylor, I’m really happy for you.” West yelled into the mic “I’ll let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!”
He then returned the mic to Ms. Swift and marched off the stage, his self-serving stunt now complete.
The cameras cut to Beyonce, who looked totally stunned. If she made any comment it was hard to decipher as the entire audience was booing West’s ignorant act. The producers then cut to a tape of Tracy Morgan and Eminem. And to add further insult Taylor’s mic was cut off, and the poor girl just walked off the stage.
Later that evening Beyonce won for best video – and her acceptance was allowed to proceed. “This is amazing,” she said. “I remember being 17 years old, up for my first MTV award and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life, so I would like Taylor to come out and have her moment.”
Then, showing a level of class West would have trouble pronouncing, she brought Taylor back to the mic. The 19-year old took the stage once again and with eyes clearly red and a smile of relief she thanked, “All of my fans on Twitter and MySpace, and everyone who came out to my shows this Summer.”
The LA Times reports this is the third time in four years West has ruined someone else’s big moment for his own selfish ends. He is either trying to be the new Lindsay, or is planning a new job as a Republican Senator.
Either way, the man needs to grow up.
I thought it was very tacky. I also thought Serena could have handled things better and so should have JOE WILSON. It was a pop category and she is country. I did not agree that she should have won that award instead of Beyonce, but Kanye made the hugest arse out of himself. Joe Wilson you wrong too.lol
It was a great PR move on Mathew Knowles part to have her do that. It was indeed a classy thing to do.
