Tila Tequila case dismissed as untrue

As a follow-up to our earlier update, the facts in this case are now these:

After three days of extensive reviews of both the claims and the evidence, San Diego District Attorney, Bonnie Dumanis has dismissed the case against Shawne Merriman that was brought by his girlfriend, Tila Tequila.

“After a thorough review of the investigation into the Sept. 6, 2009, alleged incident, our office has determined there is insufficient evidence to prove beyond doubt that a crime was even committed,” Dumanis said in a statement released to the Associated Press. “This case is now closed. No further comment will be made.”

Merriman — the 26-year old, 224-pound linebacker for the San Diego Chargers was arrested on Monday after Tequila signed a Citizen’s Arrest warrant accusing him of battery and false imprisonment. Both are felonies.

In response to the charges, Merriman had said he was merely trying to keep a drunken and naked Tequila from leaving his home and denied harming her.

Best known for her MTV reality show “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila,” which was killed after only two seasons, the 27-year old bisexual actress made her debut in Playboy at the age of 19, and has modeled for numerous similar mags since that time. Her last brush with a camera was as a ‘Hooters’ waitress in “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,’ which was way back in 2007.

Informed of the DA’s decision, Merriman refused to make any immediate comment, but his boss, San Diego Chargers’ general manager, A.J. Smith said, “This is really good news. We’re happy things worked out for Shawne on the legal front.”
