Rose McGowan badly injured in Red Sonja stunt

This time last year, Rose McGowan was celebrating landing the lead in her fiance, Robert Rodriguez’ new movie, Red Sonja.

Cut to a scene one year later, and things have markedly changed.

The Italian-born actress, who turned 36 on Saturday, has now lost part of her elbow as the result of a stunt that went wrong. “I had wrist and elbow surgery and they took part of my elbow out.” she wrote on her blog. “I could no longer use my arm, but now I can hold a fork and drive so we’re moving up.”

The movie, which has already been postponed once due to lack of financing, is now on hiatus while Rose recovers the use of her arm. And that sounds like it might take a while, “It’ll probably be another six months of rehab, but that’s the price you pay for doing back-flips!” she told Fox’s scribes.

In other news, for those of you who admire Ms  McGowan, you may be intrigued to learn she’s an Actor entirely by accident.”I wasn’t trying to be an actor,” she explained, recalling how she got her first role. “I was standing outside a gym waiting for my friend and this woman kept saying, ‘She should be in this movie!’ I found out they’d pay me enough for a down-payment on an apartment and I’ve been on the Yellow Brick Road ever since…”

Far be it from me to suggest as which character, but if you’ve seen her act it’s not much of a stretch…
