Nicole Richie and Joel Madden welcome a son

‘Simple Life’ star, Nicole Richie and her fiance, Joel Madden are now the proud parents of a second child, and if celebrity baby names are an interest of yours,  the one they’ve both picked is a peach!

“In the very early hours of September 9, Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born to Nicole and Joel,” Nicole wrote on her blog. “Nicole, Joel, Harlow and Sparrow are all doing well. Thank you for all your good wishes,” it says.

The feathery fledgling now joins the couple’s other uniquely-named offspring, Harlow Winter Kate Madden, who took her first bows on January 11 of 2008 at L.A’s ‘Cedars-Sinai Medical Center,’ bending the needle at a healthy 6lbs 7ozs. At which time, Nicole and Joel both pronounced themselves, ‘Thrilled!’

Two weeks later, her first baby pictures were sold to a tabloid for $1-million.

But despite such a major upheaval in life Nicole was unusually modest about her role as a mom, “I don’t think you can plan anything about having a child,” she told People last year. “It’s something completely new, so you just have to go with what works for you. There’s a million different ways to be a mom.”

The adopted daughter of singing legend, Lionel Richie, and a former girlfriend of DJ AM, Nicole, 27, has kept a much lower profile since Harlow was born, but keeps very busy with her various projects, including the maternity line ‘A Pea in the Pod’ and the ‘Richie-Madden Childrens Foundation,’ which provides much-needed grants to worthy non-profits who offer health-care and educational chances to low-income homes.
