DJ AM laid to rest in quiet family event

In unwelcome proof that the brightest of stars often burn out the soonest, DJ AM has now been laid to rest.

The 36-year old music star was interred late on Wednesday at a quiet family funeral at the Hillside Memorial Park in West LA, attended by several close relatives, as well as DJ’s close friend, Travis Barker.

A memorial celebrating his cruelly short life is now planned for tonight at the Hollywood Palladium, “The format of the evening will be an open 12-step meeting,” reports People, quoting an invite for the private event which is apparently planned as “a gathering to celebrate the life of our friend, Adam Goldstein.”

Like the service itself, this will also be closed to both the press and his fans.

DJ AM was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Friday, apparently from an accidental drug overdose. The exact cause of death will not be known for some weeks when toxicology tests will provide some results.
