Ex Miss USA, Carrie Prejean sues pageant for slander

In proof that beautiful people have the ugliest fights, former Miss California, Carrie Prejean’s latest effort at undeserved self-advancement has upset former friends.
The 22-year old faded model, and now de-frocked queen of the catwalk is suing both the Miss California pageant and its co-exec director, Shanna Moakler, claiming religious discrimination. And Ms Oakler is now pretty steamed.
“On Ms. Moakler’s behalf, I can say that Ms. Prejean’s lawsuit is wholly without merit,” says Mel Avanzado, Shanna’s razor-sharp lawyer. “As everyone is aware, Ms. Prejean’s own unfortunate and bigoted statements are responsible for any damage to her reputation that she claims to have suffered,” he told People. “Ms. Moakler denies she did anything wrong and looks forward to proving her case in a court.”
The Miss California bosses fired Ms. Prejean in June as she went AWOL from countless appearances she was contractually obliged by her title to attend and complete. The duly dumped diva is claiming she was auf’d from the show because she’s opposed to gay marriage, and she’s now suing for libel and slander, and names Shanna’s fellow director, Keith Lewis and the pageant’s publicist, Roger Neal as the cause of her pain.
There’s no court date as yet – but I’m guessing Ms Prejean has no plans to take it that far. We’ll keep you advised what comes next…
