In what appeared to be a cry for more attention, this morning on Twitter, John Mayer challenged Harvey Levin and TMZ.com to track down his mug shot from when he was arrested for driving with a suspended license in Georgia in 2001. John offered up $25,000 to TMZ’s charity of choice if they could dig up the photo.

The Smoking Gun also heard John’s call for attention and apparently posted the goods a few minutes before TMZ did. Looking at the mugshot, John should have paid to make sure the picture never saw the light of day, but there is perhaps an explanation for how this got started. Earlier this week, when Fall Out Boy singer Patrick Stump was arrested in Los Angeles for driving without a valid license, in apparent commiseration, John Mayer took to Twitter and revealed that back in 2001 he was arrested for the same offense noting that “It’s the lamest answer to the question ‘why you in here?’ ” He then took it a step further by tweeting:

“Challenge: if Harvey Levin at TMZ can produce my mug shot, I will donate 25k to the charity of his choice.”

Now let’s see if John is going to pay up.
