Venezuela wins Miss Universe contest again

Stefania Fernandez wins
Some of the world’s most beautiful women vied for the title of Miss Universe 2009 on Sunday night, descending on Nassau, Bahamas, to compete. But Miss Venezuela proved to be fairest of them all once again, winning the 2009 Miss Universe crown fending off competition from contestants from 83 countries. It was the second year straight year a Miss Venezuela took the crown and the sixth time in the 59-year history of the pageant.
The event was held at the Atlantis Resort in Nassau by a judging panel which included Andre Leon Talley, the editor-at-large for American Vogue, Dean Cain, the actor, and supermodel Valeria Mazza.
The main event on Sunday was hosted by Celebrity Apprentice star Claudia Jordan and Access Hollywood co-anchor Billy Bush, and included performances by rapper Flo Rida, singers David Guetta and Kelly Rowland and reality star Heidi Montag. Each contestant was judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. Miss USA Kristen Dalton made it to the final 10 in the Miss Universe 2009 competition at Bahamas. Miss Dominican Republic, Ada Aimee De La Cruz, was named first runner-up and would assume Fernandez’s duties if she couldn’t complete her term.
