Brad Pitt gets free counsel from ‘Rehab’s Dr.Drew

After Brad Pitt’s recent one-on-one with Bill Maher in which he admitted he’d stopped smoking pot since becoming a father, ‘Celebrity Rehab’ adviser, Dr. Drew Pinsky has sage advice for young Brad.

A board-certified specialist in addiction, Dr. Drew Pinsky knows Brad’s problem well, “You have to wonder how much he was smoking. But the fact he had to quit because it was interfering with his parenting abilities is bothersome.”

And Dr. Drew says Brad still has a problem — telling his kids he did drugs, “I see it all the time with my patients. Parents tell their son or daughter they did drugs, then warn them about the hazards,” he explains. “But in the child’s mind, that’s hypocrisy; Their parents did it, and they’re okay?!”

According to Drew, the only good time to tell children is when the parent’s in rehab.

And VH1′s ganja guru has specific advice for when the Brangelina brood start wanting some weed. “Don’t lie to your kids. The horse is out of the barn. He should tell them, ‘It would have been better for you not to know what I did. But I think you shouldn’t do it,’ says Drew. “Or something like, ‘I was so badly addicted, I had to stop so I was able to parent you’…It’s an unusual situation with this conversation,” the Doctor admits.

Given Brad’s day-job, Drew also sees more chance of young trauma, caused by frequent moving or having several homes, “Multiple moves are very destructive for kids. I can’t say it’s going to harm them, but they never develop stable roots with their peers,” he tells Radar. “It’s very traumatic. In a couple of shows in the new ‘Rehab’ season, the patients have moved twenty times!”

Drew’s next rotation in ‘Celebrity Rehab’ bows on VH1 early next year. And so far, Brad’s not a star.
