Kate Gosselin shows two faces to NBC staff

In an interview on Monday’s ‘Today’ show that got her tagged as ‘a bitch’ by the staff, Kate Gosselin denied that making her TLC show had played any part in her impending divorce. But those in the know say she’s deluding herself as to just how vital the show’s continued success is to keeping her rich.

“Kate understands that she needs this show for income, and to support the kids. The show feeds public interest in her books, and her books just add more cash to the pile,” a well-placed source tells MSNBC.

And in a blatant and shameless attempt to ensure this sweet gravy train just keeps rolling along, Kate is trying to convince her [soon-to-be-ex] husband Jon to stay on the show — purely for his sake, of course.

“Jon thinks he’s bigger than ‘Jon & Kate, plus 8,’ and it’s frustrating to Kate,” says the source. “He needs to focus and make sure the show does well so the family can be well.”

…And if you believe that’s her motive, we need to talk.

During the interview with Meredith Vieira, Kate was as bland as expected. But off-camera staff saw a quite different Kate; ”We get the world’s biggest egos coming through here,” says one NBC staffer. ”But Kate was one of the most unpleasant I’ve seen in over ten years – She was a total bitch!”

And Meredith’s questions seemed to hit on a nerve; She asked Kate about the affair with her bodyguard, her connection with Jon, how the kids were all doing, and if she would do this all over again…And Kate wasn’t pleased, ”She was swearing like a drunken sailor as she stormed out,” was the word from the set.
