Jennifer Hudson now has her own Idol

In news that should add some far brighter days to a life that deserves it after her recent sad loss, Oscar-winner, Jennifer Hudson just got a new role as a mom.

The 27-year old Chicago native, who won the Academy Award for her role in 2007′s ‘Dreamgirls’, together with fiance David Otunga, welcomed a son, David Daniel Otunga Jr. to the world on Monday night, according to E.

Jennifer never officially announced she was pregnant, but people soon guessed when she began wearing increasingly loose-fitting clothing this Spring.

As we reported, Jen also held a gender-neutral shower in June, as she and “I Love New York’ cast member David had decided to wait for the birth to discover the sex of their child.

Bending the needle to a healthy 7lbs 14 ounces, the new baby and mom are both said to be well.
