Kathy Griffin dates Sarah Palin’s worst nightmare

In an evening well known for inspiring some truly inexplicable couplings, Kathy Griffin took a night off from her rightful place on the D-list to attend the Teen Choice Awards with Sarah Palin’s former prospective son-in-law, Levi Johnston.

The pair attended the taping of Fox’s annual acne-encrusted indulgence at Universal Studios, which, in keeping with the unbridled weirdness of the entire event is owned by their biggest competitor, and the firm that makes Bill O’Reilly foam at the ears — NBC.

Kathy, who at an age she claims as 48 is almost three decades older than her fame-loving friend, tried to explain it with humor, “Long-distance relationships are not easy; Especially when he’s in his igloo and I’m in my Hollywood tower,” she declared. Levi, meanwhile, told the press almost nothing, “I just, you know, shut up and do what I’m told.” was all he could say.

That must have felt pretty familiar??

Currently savoring minute 13 of his undeserved fame, Levi, 19, – who was in town for a Vanity Fair photo shoot – told MSNBC that he’s ‘loving the Hollywood life,’ and that his own reality show is his next biggest dream. Grffin, however, was less circumspect, “Miley Cyrus, try to top this!” she declared with her usual self-serving reserve.

The couple then proceeded inside and were seen flirting and laughing throughout the event. Neither made any mention of long-term plans, so let’s just see if they can rent the cajones to do this again…
