Just in case you’ve been trapped in a cave recently, American Idol now needs a new host. And the self-serving bun-fight among those on the D-list continues at a risible pace.

As we reported before, Victoria Beckham is now confirmed as a Judge, and late-breaking news advised us that Katy Perry is now also on board.

But it takes a big judge to judge a big show…and they don’t get much bigger than Kirstie. The ex-’Cheers’ star is now tweeting like crazy that she has also been given the chance of a [reinforced] AI chair, “I’m replacing Paula Abdul on Idol !!!” she tweeted last night. “I can’t wait to f  Simon up!…Been working on it for months!”

When asked to confirm this by Radar, Kirstie’s new agent was a fat lot of help, “She is ecstatic at the prospect,” is all he would say.

If her announcement is true, Kirstie, 58, could sure use a break — In June of last year she joined Jenny Craig and was delighted when she lost 75-pounds. In May, however, she announced on her blog that she’d gained eighty-three.

The girl needs some luck!

So there it is, kids — Paula’s gone bye-bye and the corpulent Kirstie could now take her place. It’s not official from Fox yet, but we’ll keep you advised.
