Mischa Barton released from hospital and returning to work

It’s rare that we get to report good news in a celebrity’s life, but here’s one of those rare, welcome chances — Mischa Barton has now been discharged from hospital, is feeling much calmer and is now on her way back to work.

As we reported last week, Mischa was taken in to protective custody on Wednesday after calling LA Police with a ‘medical problem.’ But now that’s behind her and the 23-year old actress is eager to return to work on her series. “I can confirm that she’s left the hospital with the intention to resume production of ‘The Beautiful Life,’” her rep., Craig Schneider told Us magazine.

On Friday, Ashton Kutcher, creator of the series, which stars Mischa as a pill-popping supermodel, said the actress was well on the mend, “I can tell you right now, Mischa Barton is doing great!” the actor / producer assured the press.

Production of ‘..Life’ was suspended when Mischa got sick, but cameras are now due to roll again Friday.

Since leaving her role as Marissa in ‘The OC’ in 2006, Mischa’s personal life has been a disaster. More recently, her dramatic and unexplained loss of weight has caused those closest to her a great deal of worry. Her last legal trauma was a DUI charge in December of 2007. She pleaded no contest and got three years probation. Let’s hope that this time she can get her life together.
