Susan Boyle Admits Crushed by Fame

Susan Boyle is beginning to emerge once again from the safe confines of her small Scottish village, granting interviews while slowly recovering from the overwhelming media blitz, after her appearances on the show, “Britain’s Got Talent,”After wowing the entire world with her rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream,” Boyle became an instant International Internet and television sensation, and her entire world changed overnight.

The quiet 48-year-old Boyle, who some described as dowdy, came in second in the competition. The assault on her senses of the constant media attention, some of it cruel, proved to be too much for Boyle and she was admitted to a London clinic for exhaustion.

She was recently interviewed by Meredith Vieira of NBC’s the “Today” show, which is scheduled for broadcast on Wednesday. Boyle told Vieira in her first TV interview since she became a global Internet and TV sensation with millions of fans, of her difficulties with her changed life after appearing on the British talent show.

“Being plucked from obscurity is a bit like, you know, going on a long journey,” said Boyle. And although the journey has been painful at times, Boyle said she doesn’t “…want it to end.

She likened the impact of instant fame to that of a giant “demolition ball.” Boyle said the “Britain’s Got Talent” team has helped her recover from the media onslaught and put the experience in perspective.

Simon Cowell, the no holds barred judge, on the British talent show, as well “American Idol” is helping Boyle produce an album.
