Jennifer Love Hewitt is engaged in front of 200 people or maybe she’s not?

In further proof that comedians get all the best girls, it’s being reported that ‘Ghost Whisperer’ star, Jamie Kennedy is now engaged to Jennifer Love Hewitt, from ‘Party of Five.’

The NY Post reports, Jamie, 39, was in the midst of a mammoth two-hour set at the Laugh Factory in Long Beach on Saturday night, when he pulled Jennifer on stage, and the pair began to tell jokes and sing. An audience member then yelled, “Marry her!” and Jamie instantly took the direction, got down on one knee and proposed.

Jennifer, 30, was said to be totally fazed by the offer, but quickly said yes — despite any hint of a ring. Once she accepted, the audience went wild and the newly matched couple got a standing ovation.

As they’ve been dating since March you might think this whole thing was fixed? Not at all. Jen was there at the show because she helps Jamie sell his T-shirts and disks, “I’m really lucky because I get to play all over the US, and my girlfriend comes along,” Jamie said in recent press chat. “She’s the most supportive person I’ve ever been with.”

And the two do seem truly in love. Jen told reporters she’s, “the happiest I’ve ever been” with Jamie around. “We just make each other laugh and we’re best friends,” she said. And Jamie seems equally stoned, “We’ve known each other a very long time and there’s just something there,” he told the scribes. “She’s the most generous and thoughtful person you’ll ever meet.”

As we’ve reported before, Jen has a habit of loving and leaving them — Hard. In fact, her reps are already saying the two aren’t betrothed…and that’s simply absurd: She said yes, live on stage – in front of 200+ people. If there are less than 100 camera-phone pictures, it would be a surprise. To even vaguely believe the entire event could then be flatly denied beggars logic.

If it is true, let’s hope that, this time the magic might last…
