Beloved CBS news anchor Walter Cronkite dead at 92
Legendary CBS news anchor Walter Cronkite has passed away at the age of 93. Cronkite died at his home in New York after a long illness, according to CBS Vice President Linda Mason. The beloved newsman, anchored the CBS Evening News for 19 years, earning him the moniker “Most Trusted Man in America.” Rumors that Walter was gravely ill were confirmed by his family who issued a statement a few weeks ago saying that he had been suffering for some years with cerebrovascular disease and was not expected to recuperate.  The CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite, was the top-rated news program from 1969 until he retired in 1981 and was replaced by Dan Rather. As Walter would say as he signed off his newscasts, “And that’s the way it is.” Even so, he will be sorely missed!

‘Most trusted’ is a cliche, perhaps, but honestly, Walter Cronkite was the second most important man in my life.
Walter Cronkite reinforced the lessons my father gave me.
And then in so many ways, he became the man who helped shape my life into the extraordinary journey that it’s been.
Thank you, Mr. Cronkite.
