Emma Watson to play Cinderella for Manson?
Although Emma Watson has now confirmed she’ll be coming to the US to study at a prime University here, the 19-year old actress has not closed the door fully on returning to film.
According to well-based reports, Emma may be taking time off from her literature studies at Brown University, the ivy-league college in Providence, Rhode Island, to star in a new version of that timeless tale, Cinderella.
And to give you an idea how odd this news is, the movie’s producer is goth-rocker, Marilyn Manson.
It’s not clear if Manson will write or direct, but his plan [big surprise!] is for a gothic retelling of the children’s story made famous by Disney. And just to add spice, it’s a musical – so Emma would sing.
Hot on the heels of her recent debut as a Burberry lead, this is quite a departure for the french-born young star. Other than ‘Potter’, Emma’s only appeared in one other movie –Â the 2007 Brit TV flick, ‘Ballet Shoes.’
On her Rhode Island plans, Emma is typically dismissive, “I’m not trying to hide or anything. I really do like studying and reading. If I’m not working on Harry Potter, my greatest relaxation is to sit with a book,” she explained to reporters. “That’s how I escape stress – in literature.”
The Cinderella role is unsigned at present. As soon as she inks it, we’ll bring you the word.
