Amy Winehouse and husband granted divorce
After two years and two months of arguably the most unstable and destructive marriage in modern rock history, Amy Winehouse and her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil have severed their bond — The couple were granted a divorce on the grounds of Amy’s repeated infidelity by a Judge in London this morning. Neither of them was in court.
Winehouse, 25, burst on the scene with her multi-Grammy-winning album “Back to Black” in 2006. But her career since then has been blighted by drugs ( Fielder-Civil admitted intriducing Amy to hard drugs), repeated arrests and a marriage that was more like an undeclared war.
The couple were married in June 2007, but a few weeks later the groom was in jail for assault. And things clearly went downhill from there. In the court documents, Blake, 27, says he found living with Amy ‘intolerable.’ For her part, Amy acknowledged constant drug usage and several affairs and agreed not to contest the divorce. The split now becomes final in six weeks and a day.
Amy spent the last few months on the Caribbean island of St.Lucia, desperately trying to break her drug habit and rekindle the talent that won her five Grammys in one single year. But her comeback so far has been ridiculed by both the press and her fans, and she is due to stand trial in London next week on a charge of assault. If found guilty she’d be back in jail for up to three years, so her future career is not looking good.
